PayPal Decision Scientist, School Board Member and Program Developer

Michelle Ton currently serves as Director, Consumer Product and Portfolio Data Science at PayPal, the breakthrough online transactions company that within 20 years of launching became one of the largest revenue companies in the United States. At PayPal, Michelle leads teams of data scientists and business analysts in leveraging data to drive decisions which accelerate revenue and impact long-term sales strategy. 

Prior to her time at PayPal, Michelle was a Case Team Leader at Bain & Company, a global management consulting firm. At Bain, she led teams of consultants on client engagements—her work spanned multiple industries including private equity due diligence, telecom, healthcare, and retail, along with functional areas including strategy, mergers and acquisitions, go-to-market, and organizational redesign. 

Previously, Michelle spent four years as Quantitative Analytics Manager at Capital One Bank, building and owning statistical models for the company’s extensive commercial portfolio. 

Michelle received an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management, and a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Applied and Computational Mathematics from the California Institute of Technology. 

Michelle has previously served as a Board Member of Boston’s Fenway High School Board of Trustees. She is also an alumna of the Education Pioneers Fellowship program, through which she built and implemented the technology curriculum for two Harlem-based charter schools.
